Loser, Loser, Loser....

I am a total loser. I am sure I will eventually finish this pillow case... it has been so long that even Eli has stopped asking about it.

My husband actually told me last night that this was an embarrassment. He said that there is nothing lamer (is that proper?) than having a blog and never writing on it... I wonder if that is true. I personally think it is attacking your busy wife for not writing on her blog, but what do I know.

I will do my absolute best to do some sewing this weekend... only time will tell.

Hmmm..

Ummm... I have not been very successful. My sewing machine sits in the same place with the same Micky Mouse fabric on top... I think I need a new plan.

Maybe sometime in the next few months I will motivate myself to finish this pillow. Anyone want to lay down a wager? I am sure you will win...

Can you say "slacker"...

It is official. I am a total slacker.

Eli picked out this ugly Mickey Mouse fabric at Hobby Lobby last week and he really wanted me to make him a shirt. I have somehow convinced him that a pillow cover is better (and all I could possibly make at this point). So, I have cut the fabric and now it is on top of my sewing machine taunting me.

Jon has been out of town and will be back tonight, so hopefully I will get something done in the next couple of days.

I am beginning to think that this blog isn't really providing the necessary motivation...

Still no table...

It appears to more difficult to find a table then I originally thought, so I am adjusting my first step (and it only took me 5 days to decide to go on to the next step). My sewing machine will temporarily live on my dining room table.

I actually went to Hobby Lobby today (after finding that Michael's does not have much of a sewing selection). I was lucky enough to go with a friend who actually knows about sewing, so she was able to assist me with some supplies. I now have some thread, some fabric and a book. Of course, my husband, who works in the publishing world, is going to kill me for getting a book that is not one of his (I am sure I will end up returning it).

I am actually going to sit down at my machine tonight and see what I can do. I will post pictures if I get anything accomplished... wish me luck!

Sewing Tables

I am shocked at the cost of sewing tables. There are some that are actually over $4,000.00. Although, I am sure it would make my first sewing venture a masterpiece, I think I will settle for something a bit more practical.

So, maybe my sewing area will not be $4,000.00 fabulous and perhaps it will require more than the twenty minutes I allotted for the transition. I did get my sewing machine out... it is sitting in the corner on a TV tray... which fits the machine well, but it will make it difficult to actually use the machine. I guess I will take a trip to Michael's (?) and see if I can find anything.

Maybe I will look for fabric or thread or a pattern while I am there...

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...

I can't sew. I have always wanted to sew, but I can't. In fact, three years ago my husband bought me a sewing machine for Christmas. When he bought it he told me that it would just sit in a closet somewhere and never get used. I was sure he was wrong... so far he has been right.

Most people make New Year’s Resolutions, not me. I don't do it because I never follow through. I don't have any will power and I don't do anything I don't have to do... I am super lazy! So, I have decided that I am going to make a spring resolution... I am going to learn to sew.

Today is day number one of my sewing adventure... this means I am going to find a permanent home for my sewing machine (that is not a closet). I am going to transform a corner of my home office into a fabulous sewing area. Once that is done, I have no idea what I will do next… maybe I'll get some fabric or thread or a pattern…

This blog is to provide me with consequences for inactivity. If I think people are reading perhaps I will be motivated... after all, I don't want everyone in the world to know what a slacker I am...

If there is anyone out there who wants to learn to sew with me... it might be fun!
